Today, we stand in solidarity with journalists and media professionals across the globe in celebrating 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐚𝐲, with this year’s theme: “𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 – 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢.”

This year’s observance calls attention to how emerging technologies—particularly 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞—are reshaping journalism: from news production and distribution, to the protection of truth and freedom of expression. As we navigate this Brave New World, we must uphold the core values of ethical journalism, transparency, and the vital role of a free and responsible press in democratic societies.

While AI offers new tools and efficiencies, it also presents challenges such as 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒃𝒊𝒂𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. It is our collective duty to ensure that innovation strengthens—not suppresses—press freedom.
