“𝘈 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶: 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳. 𝘈𝘴 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘴𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.” — 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 13:34

Today, April 17,2025, we commemorate 𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, a sacred day that marks the 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬, where He instituted both the Holy Eucharist and the commandment of love—the very heart of our Christian life.

The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin “mandatum”, meaning “commandment”—pointing us to the moment Christ commanded us to 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 just as He loved us. It was on this night that Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, showing that true leadership is rooted in humility and service.

As Maryknollians, we are reminded today that faith is not just professed—but practiced, especially through 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭-𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩. Maundy Thursday calls us to reflect on the sacrifice of Christ, and to walk in love and humility in our journey of faith.

Let this holy day lead us to renewed hearts, deeper compassion, and a greater commitment to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world.
