Maryknoll College of Panabo, Inc. (“MCPI,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the MCPI Learning Portal mobile application (the “App”), a mobile Learning Management System designed exclusively for enrolled students, faculty, and staff of MCPI. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

By using the MCPI Learning Portal, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

We collect the following personal information to provide our educational services:

Full name — used to identify you within the platform and in course activities.
Email address — used for account management and system notifications.
User ID — a unique identifier assigned by MCPI for account management.
Login credentials — username and password used to authenticate access to the App.

2.2 App Activity Data

When you use the App, we automatically collect:

App interactions — course page views, quiz attempts, assignment submissions, and other learning activities.
Device or other IDs — device identifiers used to enable push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Crash logs and diagnostics — error reports and performance data used to maintain and improve the App.

2.3 User-Generated Content

The App allows users to send internal messages, participate in course forums and discussions, and submit assignments. This content is stored on MCPI’s server and is accessible only to relevant students, faculty, and administrators within the institutional environment.

3. How We Use Your Information

MCPI uses the collected information for the following purposes:

App functionality — to provide and operate the learning management features of the App.
Account management — to create, manage, and authenticate user accounts.
Push notifications — to send academic announcements, deadlines, and updates using your device ID.
App performance — to monitor, diagnose, and fix crashes and technical issues.
Academic tracking — to record course progress, grades, and learning activities for educational purposes.
Security — to monitor for unauthorized access and ensure the integrity of the platform.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

MCPI does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:

Within MCPI — authorized faculty, staff, and administrators may access relevant student data for academic and administrative purposes.
Service providers — trusted third-party service providers (such as hosting services) that assist in operating the App, subject to confidentiality agreements.
Legal compliance — if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
Safety — if disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of MCPI, its users, or the public.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including:

HTTPS/SSL encryption for all data transmitted between the App and our servers.
Institutional login controls — only MCPI-verified accounts can access the App.
Server-side access controls managed by the MCPI IT Office.
Regular monitoring and security audits of the platform.

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

Personal data is retained for the duration of the user’s enrollment or employment with MCPI. Upon separation from the institution, accounts may be deactivated and data archived in accordance with MCPI’s data retention policies and applicable Philippine laws, including Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012).

7. Children’s Privacy

The MCPI Learning Portal is intended for users aged 16 and above, consistent with MCPI’s enrollment age range. All user accounts are created and managed by MCPI administrators — users cannot self-register. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without appropriate institutional consent. If you believe a user under 16 has been improperly registered, please contact the MCPI IT Office immediately.

8. Your Rights Under the Data Privacy Act

In accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), you have the right to:

Be informed — know what personal data is being collected and processed.
Access — request a copy of your personal data held by MCPI.
Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure or blocking — request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal and institutional retention requirements.
Object — object to the processing of your personal data.
Data portability — receive your personal data in a structured format.

9. Account Deletion

Since all accounts in the MCPI Learning Portal are created and managed by MCPI administrators, users who wish to request account deletion or removal of their personal data must contact the MCPI IT Office directly. Upon receiving a valid request, MCPI will process the deletion in accordance with institutional policies and applicable data privacy laws.
