On September 6, 2024, Maryknoll College of Panabo Inc. – IBED department conducted the Strategic Assessment Design: Seminar on Test Construction and Table of Specification, with special participation from teachers of St. Vincent Academy of Maragusan headed by Sr. Luzvisminda Arroyo, OP, Assistant to the Director/Principal. The seminar focused on helping educators develop more effective assessments by improving their skills in test construction and using a comprehensive Table of Specification (TOS).
The plenary session, led by Ma’am Bhea Christly C. Narido, MAEd (IBED Principal), provided an insightful overview of strategic assessment design. Afterward, participants engaged in breakout sessions, which were facilitated by Ma’am Bhea Christly C. Narido, MAEd for ENGLISH Team; Ma’am Maria Lucell B. Peñas, LPT for FILIPINO Team; Ma’am Joyce Salazar, LPT for TLE Team; Ma’am Marchie Love Oliver, LPT for MAPEH Team; Ma’am Jonna Mae Saga, LPT for Araling Panlipunan Team; Sir Glendel Mark Rabe, LPT for Math and Science Team; and Ma’am Geah D. Lao, LPT for CLVEd Team.
During the breakout sessions, facilitators led a hands-on workshop on how to create a Table of Specification. After the workshop, teachers were given time to apply what they had learned by creating their own TOS. Through these interactive activities, participants gained practical tools and strategies for developing assessments that accurately reflect student learning.
It was a meaningful and successful event, reflecting the school’s commitment to improving educational standards and supporting the continued growth of teaching practices.
