Maryknoll College of Panabo, Inc. (MCPI) proudly launched its Quality Assurance (QA) office this year with an orientation session titled “Ensuring Excellence: A Guide to Quality Assurance at MCPI.” The session, held for all MCPI employees, including administrative officers, faculty, and staff, was led by Mr. Junjie R. Alcosero, LPT, the Quality Assurance Officer.

Mr. Alcosero emphasized the primary objectives of the Quality Assurance Program:

  • Ensure effective implementation of programs and activities according to established procedures, criteria, and standards.
  • Cultivate a strong culture of continuous quality management throughout the organization.
  • Facilitate audit activities to enhance best practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensure the safe and consistent execution of routine tasks or services in adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Advocate for necessary changes, innovations, and reforms across all aspects of school operations.
  • Collect and analyze data systematically to evaluate instructional effectiveness and the adequacy of school programs.
  • Foster teamwork and participatory management approaches.

During the talk, Mr. Alcosero underscored the rationale behind MCPI’s QA program in alignment of the school’s vision, mission, core values, goals and objectives.. It was outlined that the QA program is deeply rooted in the school’s commitment to providing quality Catholic education to its stakeholders. As the only Catholic school in Panabo City, MCPI remains responsive to the pervasive media influence and rapid environmental changes, especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic. The institution recognizes the necessity of development programs that are not only well-resourced but also promote a dynamic, transformative, and holistic education. Such education is anchored in academic excellence, human values, and social responsibility, addressing the diverse needs of our rapidly changing times.

Within this framework, the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) at MCPI functions as a mechanism for the ongoing monitoring of program and activity implementation, ensuring adherence to defined standards and criteria. IQAS encompasses year-round activities dedicated to assessing, monitoring, ensuring, maintaining, and enhancing the quality of organizational structure, procedures, and policies. During audit activities, best practices are validated, and areas requiring improvement are duly addressed. Results from quality assurance processes are systematically documented and utilized to enact corrective action plans.

Additionally, the QA office announced the formation of the Quality Control Committee. Mr. Junjie R. Alcosero serves as the Chairperson, with Ms. Janice Macalisang, a Senior High School Faculty member, as the Secretary. Mr. Jayson S. Canda, the Prefect of Student Formation, will represent the Academic Committee, and Ms. Edith Ocampos, a Cookery Trainer, will represent the Non-Academic Committee.

The session was well-attended, and participants actively engaged in discussions, asking questions and sharing their perspectives on the current quality assurance measures. This interactive format helped everyone gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved and underscored the collective commitment to maintaining high educational standards at MCPI.

Overall, the orientation provided valuable insights into the QA office’s role and reinforced the institution’s dedication to excellence.
